ILC has two Circle Bible study groups, the Rebecca Circle and the Ruth Circle.
The Rebecca Circle group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 1:30pm in the conference room on the church campus. These bible studies are led by a member of the ministry staff.
The Ruth Circle meets on the third Thursday of the month at 9:30am in Parish Hall. The bible studies are led by a member of the ministry staff and follow the Gather Lutheran Magazine study guide. Gather magazine is a publication of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
We will start 2018 with a new Bible study entitled "Multiple Meanings: Learning from other interpretations", a four-session lesson on why Bible stories often mean different things to different people. How we can learn and strengthen our faith through this experience?
February Lesson: Prepare the Way of the Lord (Luke 3:3-17) In part two of this study we continue to explore how we identify with the characters of the Bible and how we discern what a story means to us based on those characters. Here we look especially at Luke 3:3-17 and the preaching of John the Baptist to explore how people do not always mean the same thing when they say that something is meaningful.
March Lesson: The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) In session three of this Bible study, we further explore the ways in which Bible stories come to mean different things to different people. Session three explores how two of the best known stories in the Bible (the parables of the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son) have impacted culture, including cultures different from our own.
April Lesson: The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-20) Session four of continues to look at how Bible stories mean different things to different people. In this session, we consider how the story of the Prodigal Son is understood by believers—indeed by Lutheran believers—in different parts of the world.
All women are welcome, no reservations required. If you haven't attended before, you'll be glad you did!
