Love Everyone, always
September 15, 2021 (Time in Pandemic: 1 Year, 6 Months)
Dear Friends in Christ:
“Things are working.” These words are Scott Steller’s, and are words that he utters at the beginning of his remarks at pretty much every staff meeting. (Better, I suppose, than being told that a number of things aren’t working!)
Things are working. Such is our state of affairs these days.
Sunday school and confirmation are beginning along with many other of our fall time programs. We are hoping to see more and more people in church, as the pandemic permits. I still miss seeing so many people.
You will have seen that Intern Jennifer Barker is now hard at work, and has participated in the chancel, gone on home and hospital visits, and has begun preparing her first sermon. We look forward to her contributions in our community, and how our community might participate in forming her as an outstanding clergy person in the ELCA.
Our Anchor Church relationship with Shepherd of Life Lutheran in Lake Elsinore is going well, and I have met new people on all but one of the Sunday’s I’ve been there. So, as meager as those signs of life may seem, they do indicate something very hopeful. As we move forward, and as Incarnation can more proactively participate in the life of that community, I am convinced that we will help them regain their vitality, and in the process, bolster our own! I am hoping that when we call upon you to help, you will! This is our ministry, together!
I have been in contact with one of the Assistants to the Bishop from our Pacifica Synod, regarding potential part-time contract replacements for Pr. Tim’s position, and we are in conversation about/with three or four individuals and are slowly considering the best possible arrangement. Hopefully, I’ll be in a position to share more news in the coming weeks.
Although the Delta variant of COVID-19 seems to be plateauing, the emergence of Lambda and Mu variants are concerning. Please be aware, that all staff members of Incarnation have been fully vaccinated, and remain committed to ensuring the safety of all of our members and visitors. Accordingly, please remember when on campus inside any of our buildings, particularly when in the presence of unvaccinated individuals (potential or actual), you are kindly asked to wear your mask. We continue to require masks during worship and are encourage people to exercise discretion in greeting one another, and will follow whatever health requirements are necessary. Thank you for your compliance and understanding.
As a spiritually healthy community of faith, we are continually called to be attentive to the needs of our sisters and brothers all around us. And we are….service projects locally and in our global mission projects are in planning for whenever possible. Keep all of these needs in your prayers.
Thank you for your faithful generosity. Please continue to hold each other up in prayer and concern, so that we may very truly be Christ’s hands and feet in the world to all who may see us.
Peace & grace,

Oct. 16 - Mexico House build in Mexico (if Covid safe) Hi Everyone, We are tentatively planning House Build #14 in Mexico for Saturday, October, 16th. We will only go into Mexico for the build if things are safe from a Covid perspective. I'm thinking equal or better than the current case numbers. While I've not done a lot of research yet, my understanding is that case and vaccination rates for Baja are similar to SD County. I would like to plan everything out and make a go/no-go decision about a week out. If you would like to participate in this build, please let me know so I can add you to the sign-up list. We also need to raise about $4,000 for this build, so please consider contributing if you are able and interested. Donate here. Thanks - Jake firstname.lastname@example.org
The 2021 wildfire season is devastating the western United States. A prolonged drought and extreme heat waves are causing wildfires to spread rapidly, which makes them difficult to contain. Your gift will support wildfire survivors. When sending a check to ILC, or making an online donation, please indicate "U.S. Wildfires". Donations will be used in full (100%) to assist those affected by wildfires until the response is complete.
Hygiene Supplies Needed! Interfaith is low on hygiene supplies, shampoo, deodorant, bar soap. There is also a need for new or gently used blankets. Thank you for your consistent generosity!
Food Drop off for Interfaith Community Services Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday between 9:00 and 11:00 in the morning, volunteers are in the parking lot to move groceries and take all the donations to ICS.
We would like to invite everyone to please see the church's website for updated Covid precautions.
We encourage everyone to attend if you can. Thank you and see you in Church!
