October 7, 2020   (Week 30)

Sisters and Brothers, Good Afternoon!

The challenge with a weekly newsletter during a prolonged period of isolation is that one struggles in finding things to say from time to time...not that there isn’t anything to say; it’s just that it begins to feel a wee bit repetitious after a while.  However I am delighted to say that we have some new things to report on this week.

At 7pm on Wednesday nights (beginning this evening), we are preempting our daily devotion and weekly Bible study, in favor of a midweek worship opportunity.  The time of worship will be a Service of the Word, and will last for about a half hour, and will include a litany, prayers, a message and music.  We hope you will all find it both inspirational and nurturing.

Starting on Sunday, October 18, we’ll be initiating a Sunday Message Forum, immediately after our 10:00 am service.  The Forum will begin by Zoom about 11:10 and last for a half hour to give folks an opportunity to discuss the scriptural texts and the sermon, with a view to deepening our understanding of the gospel and our call.

On Thursday, October 29, we hope to invite you (there will be a mandatory “online sign-up”) to come on to campus to the first of our “Concerts in the Courtyard.”  A brief devotional time will accompany some of the music put on by the talented musicians in our congregation.  The appropriate requirements will be in place, (sign-up, social distancing, masks, no singing, etc.) as we seek to provide a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the gospel and enjoy some good music, and albeit in an unusual way, to begin to see one another in person in a fashion that ensures safety.  We hope that you’ll plan on coming out to enjoy some good music, and the company of friends long unseen!

For as long as we remain restricted by the COVID19 precautions, we are committed to providing the best possible worship opportunities, Christian education, devotions, etc., for our members and friends.  Daily Bible readings (To Start Your Day) will continue to be forwarded by email to those on our mailing list; Daily Devotions are provided Monday through Saturday at 7 pm on our website and FaceBook pages.  We will be providing two worship opportunities per week, a Eucharistic Worship Service at 10 am on Sundays and a Service of the Word, at 7 pm on Wednesdays, again on our website and FaceBook pages.  There are Bible Studies, confirmation classes, Sunday school, and a variety of other activities that can be easily accessed by going to www.godamong.us , and more simply by downloading from the appropriate app stores, our smartphone app for your device.  Just search for “Incarnation Lutheran Church,” and our app will pop up. Download it, and you have instant access to it all!

Please continue to take good care of yourselves, and make sure you let us know if you need anything.  We are here for you and want to serve!

God bless and keep you all!

Pr. Luther

- Before worship, around 9 am, Darrell and Nancy Datte host our after worship coffee/donut fellowship time (BYOC/D) on Zoom, and look forward to welcoming everyone in our community. Please think about joining in and saying hi to your brothers and sisters. That gathering can be found here:
