Love Universally

Love Completely

Love Everyone, always

Love Better!

August 19, 2021 (Time in Pandemic: 1 Year, 5 Months, 2 Weeks, 1 Day)

Sisters and brothers in Christ:

This weekend will bring to a close the ministry that the Rev. Timothy Mason has exercised among us. Pr. Tim will be preaching at all three services (yes, all three!), and there will be a farewell celebration for him following the 8:30 am Sunday Service. The celebration will have a Hawaiian theme, so please dress accordingly (instructions from Joyce…).

Our third regular service will begin again this week!!! The contemporary service, which formally was at 11:00 am, will now be called simply “Church @ 5,” and will take place every Sunday at 5:00 pm. We are very excited to welcome everyone for whom this timing works well, and who love the music of “Revived”. We hope to see you there!

At our Church Council meeting this past Tuesday, by unanimous vote, we welcomed our own Jennifer Barker (a Word and Service student from Wartburg Seminary), as intern on ministry staff for the next year, beginning September 1. An internship is a practicum of sorts for a student, where they are given a variety of opportunities to serve and learn, as their academic program dictates. Wartburg Seminary will guide us in the types and numbers of opportunities we are to provide Jennifer over the next year, and as the internship site, we will provide necessary supervision and support. And as Jennifer learns and grows into her role a “Deacon in training” for the ELCA, I know that all of us will be supportive, loving and patient. Thank you all in advance for those gifts!

Council also discussed strategies and ways to provide the needed support for the manifold ministries at ILC over the next few months, (possibly seeking to contract with a part-time, rostered leader), as we decide how to proceed in the longer term. We’ll keep you posted!

Our Anchor Church relationship with Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church in Lake Elsinore is going very well. I have begun visiting with as many people as I can, and look forward to engaging with the whole community. Our next Guiding Coalition Meeting is Sunday the 29th. Keep Shepherd of Life in your prayers.

As I have said over the past few weeks on many, many occasions, ILC is remarkably blessed! We have the resources and will to serve God in the service of ALL God’s people and our council is moving to ensure our success in a way that is both prudent and insightful.

Please make every effort to join us at worship this Sunday at 8:30 am, and then for the celebration for Pr. Tim thereafter!

Peace and grace,

Pr. Luther

U.S. Wildfires

The 2021 wildfire season is devastating the western United States. A prolonged drought and extreme heat waves are causing wildfires to spread rapidly, which makes them difficult to contain. Your gift will support wildfire survivors. When sending a check to ILC, or making an online donation, please indicate "U.S. Wildfires". Donations will be used in full (100%) to assist those affected by wildfires until the response is complete.

Hygiene Supplies Needed! Interfaith is low on hygiene supplies, shampoo, deodorant, bar soap. There is also a need for new or gently used blankets. Thank you for your consistent generosity!

Food Drop off for Interfaith Community Services Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday between 9:00 and 11:00 in the morning, volunteers are in the parking lot to move groceries and take all the donations to ICS.

We would like to invite everyone to please see the church's website for updated Covid precautions.

We encourage everyone to attend if you can. Thank you and see you in Church!
