Youth - Things We Do

Serving Others…

Our youth continue to participate in a variety of service projects both at Incarnation and in our community. This year our youth contributed time and talents to the following service activities:

  • Souper Bowl of Caring

  • Monthly “Sandwich Night” sandwich making

  • Ronald McDonald House cookie baking

  • Vacation Bible School leadership

  • Packaging college care packages

  • Bread Day at TACO

  • Easter Breakfast for TACO

  • Organizing Holiday Adopt-a-Family

  • And more

Sandwich Night!

Incarnation’s youth group continues its effort to help the hungry with its monthly Sandwich Night.

Each month the group foregoes the fun and games of their regular meetings to assemble and package over 100 sandwiches which are given to Interfaith Community Services (ICS). We know that the results of these Sandwich Nights are very appreciated and needed by ICS clients. The youth put on the plastic gloves, and they make the sandwiches with love. It may not be a world-changing event, but the love this group demonstrates to make this happen each month is tremendous.

The Tradition Lives On!

Every Easter for years, the youth at Incarnation host an Easter Breakfast. The proceeds from this event fund our annual Bread Day Breakfast at Third Avenue Charitable Org. (TACO) in downtown San Diego. On the Friday following Thanksgiving we provide breakfast for those in need.

At our Easter event we typically serve over 175 people. This year the meal included pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. It was delicious. The youth of the congregation help prepare, grill, and serve the food. Parents and youth sponsors play a big role in making this event a success. We hope you had the opportunity to join us. If not, mark your calendars for the day after Thanksgiving 2014 at TACO as we will be cooking again.
